Rams re-sign CB Derion Kendrick

After the Rams waived cornerback Derion Kendrick last week, he cleared waivers and has been re-signed by the team.

Kendrick entered the league as a sixth-round draft pick in 2022 out of Georgia after spending the first three years of his college career at Clemson. Kendrick played in 15 games as a rookie, starting six, before starting 12 of his 17 games played in 2023. He tallied 10 passes defended, one interception and 49 total tackles, helping the Rams to the postseason.

In training camp last year, Kendrick tore his ACL which caused him to miss the entirety of the 2024 season. The Rams always wanted him on the roster in 2025, so this was more of a business move than anything else, and McVay said Kendrick has done "a great job" this offseason after a year of rehabilitation.

"Really glad that he was able to get back with us," McVay told reporters on Tuesday. "It was really just a kind of a financial business deal based on some things that he had earned the right for his salary to fall where it was."

McVay explained further that he, defensive backs coach Aubrey Pleasant and general manager Les Snead sat down with Kendrick and told him, "Hey, here's a couple different options. Here's what we think. But let's just make sure that you understand that we want you back if this is a place that you feel you still want to be able to be at."

He did feel that way, and the deal is now done. Kendrick will re-enter a cornerback group that includes veterans like Ahkello Witherspoon and Darious Williams as well as fellow youngsters such as Cobie Durant, Emmanuel Forbes Jr. and Josh Wallace.
